Counselling & Psychotherapy in Reading

People seek counselling for many different reasons. At The Counselling Service we listen to the individual and help them work towards long-term change in the way they live their lives and feel about themselves and others.

What is Counselling?

All of us are influenced by our early experiences and relationships. These can lead to the formation of patterns of behaviour and feelings of which we are not always aware, but which can cause difficulties throughout our lives.

Counselling and psychotherapy can provide a regular space within which an individual can work with their counsellor to bring these unconscious patterns into the open with a view to change. Having the opportunity to talk in confidence with someone who will listen can help people to cope with the problems and difficulties they are suffering from and to leave them behind.

Who are we & where are we?

The Counselling Service is a community of qualified therapists providing both short-term and long-term counselling and psychotherapy in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Our main consulting rooms are located in central Reading on the London Road site of the University of Reading.

Fees are determined by each individual therapist but as a current guideline:

Initial meeting (up to 90 minutes) - £50
Regular meeting (50 minutes) - £45
Some concessions are available upon request.

We are happy to take self referrals and referrals from GPs and other professionals.
